چکیده

This non-randomized open clinical study investigated the safety and efficacy of extracorporeal fractionated plasma adsorption using the Oncosorb immune adsorption column. The column selectively bound soluble tumor necrosis factor receptors 1 and 2 (sTNF-R1 and sTNF-R2) and soluble interleukin-2 receptors (sIL2-R) by lowering plasma levels in patients with metastatic cancer. Nine patients (three men and six women; mean age 48 years, aged 41-68 years) with metastatic cancer received at least 12 immune adsorption procedures. Thrice-weekly immune adsorption separated a low molecular weight (150 000 D) plasma fraction from the patients' blood, passing the plasma fraction through the column in an extracorporeal plasma perfusion circuit. Respective plasma receptor mean concentrations before and after 167 procedures were: sTNF-R1: 1936 +/- 788 pg/mL before treatment vs. 1312 +/- 989 pg/mL after treatment; sTNF-R2: 3140 +/- 1173 pg/mL before treatment vs. 1816 +/- 1 +/- 1677 pg/mL after treatment (P < 0.01 for each inhibitor). Mean reductions in sTNF-R1 (48%), sTNF-R2 (55%), and sIL2-R levels (72%) were observed for treatments 3-12 (P < 0.001). Clinical findings indicated tumor inflammation and necrosis in most patients. Side-effects were low-grade fever, flu-like symptoms; tumor pain and redness, warmth, tenderness, and edema. The column demonstrated safety and efficacy in lowering plasma sTNF-R1, sTNF-R2, and sIL2-R levels. Minor clinical adverse effects common to the use of extracorporeal devices were seen.

Background Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common cause of major congenital birth defect. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of CHD with serum levels of Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα), Interleukin 6 (IL-6), and B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) in infant and children. Materials and Methods The present study was conducted in Heshmat heart hospital and 17 Shahrivar...

Tumor Necrosis Factor-α and Interleukin-1- β Polymorphisms in Pre-Eclampsia

Background: Pre-eclampsia is the most common critical condition during pregnancy. Plasma concentrations of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1-beta (IL-1β) increase in pregnant women with pre-eclampsia, compared to normal pregnant women. Objective: To investigate the polymorphisms of IL-1β (C+3954T), TNF-α (G- 308A), and (G-238A) in preeclemptic women northeastern Iran. Me...

Effect of two methods of training, Small Sided Game (SSG) and resistance-plyometric, on plasma level of Interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in youth soccer players

Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of two concurrent resistance-plyometric and small sided game methods on pro-inflammatory in youth soccer players. Methods: 30 youth soccer players with a range of 14 to 17 years of age were divided randomly in three groups, SSG (n=8), resistance-plyometric (n=11) and control (n=11). Height, weight, BMI and VO2max of the subjects were...

Background: Today, breast cancer is the biggest health threat to women. The current common treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. In most cancers, metastasis is the primary cause of treatment failure. Surgery and radiotherapy are effective on local tumors, but they cannot affect metastatic cancers. Chemotherapy is often used to treat metastatic cancers, the effectiveness of...
